Meet our Team

Arnold Whitman

Arnold Whitman is founder and Chairman of Formation Capital. Over the past 20 years, Arnie has strategically led Formation Capital in its growth and in the execution of over $8.5 billion in transactions. Arnie is also a founding partner in Generator Ventures, a leading venture firm focused on the intersection of innovation and aging. He is also an active partner in Aging 2.0, a global platform and community for innovators, providers, distributors and investors focused on solutions for aging and seniors.

Arnie is a former board member and Chairman Emeritus of the National Investment Center for Seniors Housing and Care (NIC). He currently serves on the boards of Genesis Healthcare, HC-One in the U.K., ASHA, Care Institute, TSOLife, Seniorly, Cosan, Centered Care and Skypoint Cloud.

Chip Gabriel

Chip has been in the senior housing industry for 34 years. Prior to founding SLTC, he was Executive Chairman of Generations LLC. During his tenure at Generations (34 years), he oversaw development and construction of 20 communities totaling over 3,500 units. Generations was vertically integrated company with its own architectural division and acted as the general contractor. He oversaw these areas and handled all financing and partner relations. Generations was the management company of these communities as well as 3rd party manager of retirement communities for CNL REIT, Blackstone, and several private owners. Currently he is Chair of the NIC Operator Advisory Board, and serves as a board member for NIC, Del Mar HealthCare Foundation, and Marquis Family of Companies.

Chip received his MBA from Willamette University, and his Bachelor degree in Management and Accounting from Pacific Union College.

Cory Bennett

Cory is the COO and a Partner of SLTC and is responsible for leading investments, asset management and day-to-day operations for the firm. Prior to forming SLTC, Cory was Managing Director at Formation Capital and responsible for investments and asset management. While at Formation, Cory invested and managed over $1.2 billion of senior housing and skilled nursing assets. Before joining Formation at the beginning of 2015, Cory spent nine years as a lender at Wells Fargo and Wachovia, specializing in residential and multifamily construction and development loans as well as spending five years in corporate finance providing capital solutions and structured debt instruments to the largest homebuilders in North America.

Cory earned his MBA in Finance and Decision Analysis from the Goizueta Business School at Emory University, and his bachelor’s degree in Global Economics and Modern Language from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Joelle Poe

Joelle serves as the CEO and founder of Centered Care, Inc., a healthcare analytics and services company for senior living and partner at SLTC, LLC, a real estate investment firm focused on senior living. Prior to leading Centered Care, Joelle held several product management leadership positions at SkyPoint Cloud, Alignment Health, and Cambia Health Solutions, where she was responsible for digital transformation, data strategy, and product design and development.

Joelle holds an MBA from The University of Oregon and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Business from George Mason University.

Andy Eby

Andy Eby is a caregiver for Bickford Senior Living, which owns and operates over 60 senior living communities across the country. Bickford built their first branch nearly 30 years ago for Andy’s grandmother, Mary Bickford. She suffered with Alzheimer’s and the Eby family could not find a place they felt comfortable with, so they built what she needed. Andy runs the day-to-day operations and works to be that caregiver who does whatever it takes to make their residents happy, just as they did for Mary. Andy is a Co-Founder of Serviam Care Network whose purpose is to transform how seniors are cared for in America. He is committed to long-term personal development and has completed 4 years of advanced training and is an adjunct faculty member at the Stagen Leadership Academy.

Andy received his bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University and played offensive line for the Green Bay Packers and St. Louis Rams.
